KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was found shot to death Wednesday night in Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhood, marking the city’s 99th homicide of the year.
Police responded around 7:50 p.m. to a call in the 4000 block of Morrell Avenue, where they discovered an unresponsive woman lying in front of a home. She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
According to a police spokesperson, the woman had been involved in an altercation with two other individuals prior to the shooting. The nature of the dispute remains unclear, and no further details were provided.
This incident brings Kansas City’s homicide count to 99 so far in 2025, compared to 91 at the same point last year. The investigation is ongoing.
