Man Charged After Alleged Assault at Kansas City Popeyes

A Kansas City man, Aaron L. Jones, is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting several people at a Popeyes restaurant on March 31.

According to Jackson County court documents filed Monday, Jones is charged with:

  • 1 felony count of third-degree assault

  • 4 misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree assault

What Happened?

The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. at a Popeyes in Kansas City, Missouri. Court records say Jones entered the restaurant, began throwing and breaking items, and later punched a woman outside the building.

A probable cause statement revealed that the woman, who stepped in when her husband tried to film Jones, was knocked unconscious and required approximately 30 stitches.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Jones:

  • Waiting in the lobby before turning aggressive

  • Grabbing and throwing objects at staff

  • Confronting a man outside

  • Striking the man’s wife with a closed fist

Arrest Warrant Issued

Jones, who now resides in Houston, Texas, is not currently in custody. A warrant for his arrest was issued on August 5, and bond has been set at $15,000.
