OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Okla. – An Oklahoma City man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a nurse who was trying to treat him in an emergency room hallway.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the incident occurred in the early hours of August 3. Francisco Webb was lying on a hospital bed when he reportedly grabbed a nurse twice as she attempted to check his vitals.
The nurse told police that during the struggle, her watch came off and Webb scratched her right arm, breaking the skin. An officer at the scene observed visible redness on her wrist and bicep.
After Webb was discharged from the hospital, he was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail. He faces charges of assault and battery on an emergency medical care provider.
Under Oklahoma law, assaulting a healthcare worker is a felony offense. The charge falls under the Medical Care Provider Protection Act, which was signed into law by Governor Kevin Stitt in May 2020.
