TELLER COUNTY, Colo. – The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Woodland Park last week, marking another tornado event in Teller County this year.
Classified as an EF-1, the tornado packed winds up to 110 mph and caused moderate damage, primarily to forested areas. While reports of the damage were delayed, NWS crews conducted a survey on Monday and verified the tornado’s impact.
According to the NWS, the twister touched down around 1:55 p.m. on July 30 near County Road 5 and Forest Service Road 357. It traveled roughly one-eighth of a mile, uprooting and snapping trees along its path.
Despite the storm’s intensity, no damage to buildings or other structures was reported.
This marks the second EF-1 tornado confirmed in Teller County this year. The previous one hit in June, about two miles north-northeast of Divide.
