Phillip Lieurance may not walk free until he’s in his 80s.
On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder as part of a plea deal between his defense team and Colorado prosecutors.
The agreement comes after months of negotiation, first mentioned during a pretrial hearing in March. Under the terms, Lieurance will serve 22.5 years for each count, to be served consecutively. These sentences will run alongside a separate 34-month sentence he received in Lyon County for three counts of aggravated battery. Credit for time already served is still being calculated.
Lieurance was initially charged with first-degree murder for Amy Ford’s death and second-degree murder for killing Linda Estrada in September 2023. He also faced two counts of tampering with a body, but all related charges have now been dismissed. The Kansas aggravated battery case emerged shortly after the homicides.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 25, following a pre-sentence investigation.
