2 Suspected Thieves Caught Outside Home Depot

DENVER — Two suspected thieves were arrested after allegedly trying to steal over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Home Depot, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the man and woman parked illegally in a handicap spot outside the store, then hid unpaid items inside light fixture boxes to sneak them past checkout.

The duo reportedly attempted to steal $1,046 worth of goods. Loss prevention staff inside the store alerted deputies to the situation. Authorities did not name which Home Depot location was involved.

After being detained, deputies found the woman in possession of pills resembling fentanyl and two baggies of a white crystalline substance believed to be meth. A search of their vehicle turned up more drugs and paraphernalia.

The woman faces charges of theft, conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor and felony drug possession, including fentanyl. The man is charged with theft, conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper parking in a handicap space.
