A Kansas City man is facing serious charges after allegedly breaking into St. Peter’s Church and stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of religious items.
According to Jackson County court records, 32-year-old Quincy D. Bradley has been charged with burglary and theft following the July 25 incident at the church, located at 701 E. Meyer Blvd.
Police said the church reported more than $17,500 in stolen religious decor, including processional candles, altar candles, candelabras, bells, and crucifixes. Although no doors or windows appeared to be forced open, surveillance footage captured Bradley loading the items into trash bins. He was also seen briefly urinating on three of the objects.
A few days later, a local recycling business alerted police after recognizing the stolen items brought in by someone matching Bradley’s description. All items except one crucifix were recovered, though many were damaged. The recycling center provided information that led investigators directly to Bradley, who had been previously questioned in a 2023 robbery.
Bradley was arrested at his home on July 31. Initially denying involvement, he later claimed he bought the items from someone without ID and admitted he knew they were stolen, calling the situation an accident.
Records show Bradley has been named in eight previous police reports involving multiple robberies. If convicted, he faces up to 14 years in prison.
He remains in custody on a $10,000 bond, with a bond review scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. on Sept. 3.
