New STEM High School in Colorado Springs to Hold Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Friday

The Colorado Springs School of Technology (CSST), a new STEM Innovation High School in District 11, is set to officially open its doors with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place at 3650 N. Nevada Ave.

CSST is designed to give students hands-on learning in specialized career pathways, including:

  • Aerospace

  • Cybersecurity

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Leadership

Community members attending the event will have a chance to tour the school, meet staff, and explore the career-focused programs offered.

“CSST was built to rethink what high school can be,” said Principal Nathan Gorsch. “We’re giving students the chance to dive into meaningful work, connect with industry mentors, and graduate with a plan.”

Colorado Springs School District 11 approved $2.5 million to renovate the space for the new school. CSST is located in the same building as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ National Cybersecurity Center and the Exponential Impact business development center.

Thanks to a 30-year lease agreement with UCCS, the school will be able to use the facility rent-free. CSST will operate as a tuition-free public high school within District 11.
