Colorado turned 149 on Friday, and to mark the occasion, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is waiving entry fees at all 43 state parks on Monday.
Although Colorado Day is officially August 1—the day the state joined the Union as the 38th state—CPW celebrates it on the first Monday in August to make it easier for more people to enjoy the parks. This year, that falls on August 4.
“This free entry day is an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of Colorado state parks and their diverse landscapes,” a CPW spokesperson said. All other park fees still apply, including those for camping, boat and OHV registrations, and hunting or fishing licenses.
As you kayak, raft, fish, hike, or spot wildlife, CPW reminds visitors to be responsible stewards of nature.
They recommend planning ahead, using the state park finder online, and downloading the free COTREX app for trail maps.
