(KODE & KSN) – As Missouri schools gear up for the new academic year, they’re rolling out updated health and safety goals aimed at better protecting students.
The changes come under Senate Bill 68, which tackles a broad range of school safety issues. Key components include emergency operations plans, anti-intruder locks, and armed intruder response training—steps many districts are already working to implement.
“We always try to be proactive when it comes to student health, care, and safety,” said Kyle Williams, Assistant Superintendent of Operations at Carl Junction R-1 Schools. “As new provisions and regulations are introduced, we continually assess and adapt to ensure compliance.”
The legislation also includes the Stop the Bleed Act, which requires schools across Missouri to have both the training and equipment needed to respond to critical health emergencies, such as severe bleeding.
With these enhanced measures, Missouri schools aim to create a more secure and prepared environment for students and staff alike.
