Former Colorado Deputy Wanted on Child Sex Abuse Charges

A former San Miguel County deputy is on the run after being accused of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Jesus Damian Nieblas, 28, is wanted on a warrant for multiple charges after authorities say he had 27 videos depicting child sexual abuse. The charges include:

  • 1 count of sexual exploitation of a child (Class 3 felony)

  • 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a child (Class 4 felony)

  • 16 counts of sexual exploitation of a child (Class 5 felony)

  • 27 misdemeanor counts for failing to report child abuse or neglect

CBI said there’s no indication that any children in San Miguel County were victims.

Nieblas resigned from the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office on June 25, just before the CBI launched its investigation. Authorities believe he is no longer in the county.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact CBI Special Agent Caroline Keevey at 970-248-7500. Tips can remain anonymous.

Once captured, Nieblas will face a $100,000 bond.
