The 23rd Judicial District Attorney formally charged Messiah Williams with the following crimes:
-
First-degree murder
-
First-degree attempted murder
-
Assault
-
Tampering with physical evidence
The charges were reviewed by Douglas County Judge Daniel Worhola on Friday.
Late-Night Attack at The Madison Apartments
At 11:36 p.m., deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at The Madison Apartments on Sweet River Circle, east of Castle Pines. Inside the unit, they found Veronica Ann Davila, 41, unresponsive, and her 20-year-old daughter, Trinity Williams, suffering from multiple critical stab wounds.
Davila died at the scene. Trinity underwent emergency surgery and is expected to survive.
Graphic Scene and Eyewitness Account
According to the arrest affidavit, Trinity told police that she heard her mother gasping for air and found Messiah standing over her with a knife. When she tried to intervene, Messiah allegedly turned the knife on her.
Despite her injuries, Trinity managed to call 911, screaming:
“I’m bleeding out! Hurry! … Me and my mom are bleeding out! My brother stabbed us … I am dying right now!”
When authorities arrived, she identified her brother as the attacker.
Suspect Arrested Nude, Denies Involvement
Deputies later found Messiah walking nude on Crossbridge Circle near Westbridge Drive and took him into custody. He reportedly denied seeing his family recently and claimed he had not harmed them.
According to the affidavit, Messiah had recently been kicked out of a substance abuse treatment center. His mother, who he didn’t normally live with, agreed to take him in just the day before the stabbing.
Victim Injuries and Ongoing Investigation
Davila suffered facial slashes and a fatal abdominal wound. Trinity survived injuries to her eyebrow, arm, and neck.
The motive remains unclear. Investigators say Messiah may have disposed of his clothing while fleeing the scene.
Messiah Williams is currently in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 3, as the investigation continues.
