Missing North Carolina Woman Found Alive in Colorado After Months-Long Search

A North Carolina woman reported missing late last year has been found alive in Colorado, according to the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) in California.

Kelsey Pittman, 33, had not been heard from since November 2024, when she lost contact with her family. In February 2025, a suspicious vehicle—a 2009 Chevrolet HHR registered to Pittman—was found near “The Pads” or Slab City, a remote area outside Death Valley often used by winter campers.

Despite an extensive search of the vehicle and surrounding area, there were no signs of Pittman, prompting a large-scale investigation involving multiple agencies, drone units, cadaver dogs, and volunteer search and rescue teams. Between February and June, ground and aerial searches turned up no new evidence.

On Tuesday, July 22, ICSO confirmed that Pittman had been found alive in Colorado.

“Out of respect for her privacy and that of her family, no further details will be released,” the sheriff’s office stated. “We thank our ICSO investigative team, along with the many law enforcement partners, search and rescue volunteers, and community members who assisted in this case and helped share information.”
