Embarrassing sports moments

Embarrassing sports moments

When playing sports, there can be many embarrassing moments. You can be embarrassed on the field, right in front of everyone. Or you could be embarrassed by being hazed by other teammates, or maybe a little bit of both.

Ben Busche, security guard, played many sports including baseball for four years and football for two years. Busche, who played outside linebacker was blindsided by a

blocker. He said, “When I got hit, snot shot out of my nose and it was all over my face.” Busche literally got the snot knocked out of him.

Another way to be embarrassed while playing sports is to be hazed by your teammates. Right before the baseball game he was pitching in, John Cackowski, social studies teacher, was told by his teammates to wear his pinstripes jersey. Cackowski said, “ My heart dropped when I walked onto the field and saw all my teammates in solid colors.” He played the rest of the game with his different outfit, and stuck out like a sore thumb.

Amanda Humphrey, math teacher, and former poms coach, said, “ My most embarrassing moments while coaching the poms is when I promised the girls that I would do their dance if they got far enough in the competition.” Humphrey does this every year and she says that it is so embarrassing because she can’t do the dance as well as the poms dancers can.

Maybe one of the most embarrassing things that can happen to you in sports is when you’re shown up by another player, but what if the person that shows you up is your own sister? Dominic Douglass, social studies teacher, said, “ When I first started track I was really unathletic, and my sister who is two years younger than me was faster than me.”

Most likely everyone who has played sports has been embarrassed. Embarrassment is a necessary thing in sports; it gives us something to learn from.Screen Shot 2016-05-16 at 9.13.51 AM
