Missing Woman Found Alive in Colorado Months After Vehicle Discovered Near Death Valley

A North Carolina woman who vanished in late 2024 has been found alive in Colorado, months after her abandoned vehicle was located near California’s Death Valley.

The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 33-year-old Kelsey Pittman was reported missing in November 2024 after her family lost contact with her.

Her car was discovered on February 9 near an area known as “The Pads” or “Slab City,” close to Highway 190 just outside Death Valley National Park—a region popular with winter campers. Despite an exhaustive search that involved drones, cadaver dogs, law enforcement, and search and rescue teams, no signs of Pittman were found.

By early July, authorities had found no trace of her. Her mother had even traveled to the area to aid in the search. At the time, officials also noted that Pittman was known to spend time around Las Vegas.

However, on July 22, the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement confirming Pittman had been found alive in Colorado. Officials did not disclose her exact location or the circumstances of her disappearance, citing privacy concerns.

“The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office is relieved to announce that Kelsey Pittman has been located alive in the state of Colorado,” the press release stated. “Out of respect for her privacy and that of her family, no further details will be released.”
