Just days before their summer camp, a Colorado nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth has been hit by a devastating theft.
Lucky to Ride, a Denver-based organization that helps underserved children build confidence and resilience through biking, job training, and outdoor experiences, reported that a box truck carrying 20 bicycles was stolen. The bikes were intended for kids attending next week’s camp.
“These bikes were meant for kids who rely on us for access to bikes, mentorship, and outdoor adventure,” said Program Manager and Mountain Bike Team Coach Ryan Rogers. “Now, with camp just days away, we’re in desperate need of extra-small bikes to make sure no child is left out.”
While insurance will cover the truck, the bikes inside were not insured. The nonprofit is now scrambling to gather replacement bikes in time.
Rogers is calling on the community to help by donating extra-small and youth-sized bicycles. Contributions can be made through Lucky to Ride’s online fundraiser, or by reaching out directly at (720) 454-9755 or [email protected].
