“Unfit to Serve”: Lauren Boebert Faces Fierce Challenge from Retired Navy Admiral Who Raised $1.9M in Just 54 Days

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), a prominent MAGA-aligned lawmaker, is seeking re-election in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District in 2026 — backed once again by former President Donald Trump, who gave her his “complete and total endorsement for a fourth time.”

Boebert switched districts in 2024 and defeated Democrat Trisha Calvarese, a former federal employee at the National Science Foundation. Calvarese is now making another run, aiming “to retire” Boebert from Congress.

Joining the race is Eileen Laubacher, a retired two-star U.S. Navy Rear Admiral who previously served in Afghanistan and on the National Security Council under President Biden — while still a registered Republican. She switched her party affiliation to Democrat in March 2025.

Laubacher came out strong in her campaign announcement, calling Boebert “one of the most unfit members of Congress in our country’s history.” She doubled down in a campaign video caption: “She’s unfit to serve.”

Laubacher has quickly gained momentum. In just 54 days, she raised over $1.9 million, according to OpenSecrets — far surpassing Boebert’s $450,000 and Calvarese’s $150,000.

The stage is now set for a heated battle in Colorado’s 4th District, with a high-profile Republican incumbent facing a well-funded retired military leader and a returning Democratic challenger.
