An Oklahoma City man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening a Dollar General security guard with both a gun and a machete during a dispute over a bag of ice.
According to court documents, Oklahoma City Police responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and arrived to find the suspect, identified as Sweeney, already detained. Officers recovered a black pistol and a loaded magazine at the scene.
Police say the confrontation began when the store’s security guard stopped Sweeney to check his receipt, suspecting he had stolen a bag of ice. After an argument, the guard followed Sweeney to a nearby residence.
There, Sweeney allegedly pointed a gun at the guard and threatened him. Police say he then set down the firearm and pulled out a large machete, escalating the situation further.
Sweeney was arrested and booked on assault and battery charges and possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction.
