KERR COUNTY, Texas – Missouri Task Force 1 remains on the ground in Texas, continuing critical search and rescue operations following devastating flooding over the Fourth of July weekend.
Originally activated by FEMA on July 7, the urban search and rescue team—a division of the Boone County Fire Protection District—initially deployed 50 members to the flood-stricken Kerr County.
This week, FEMA elevated the team’s status from Type III to Type I, prompting the deployment of an additional 35 personnel to bolster recovery efforts. These reinforcements arrived Monday and officially joined the ongoing mission on Tuesday.
Challenges on the Ground
Rescue crews are combing through difficult terrain, including heavy debris fields and expansive open areas along the Guadalupe River and its tributaries.
The operation is highly collaborative, involving local agencies and international partners, including a search and rescue team from the Czech Republic.
Missouri Task Force 1 continues working around the clock to locate missing persons and support the communities hit hardest by the floods.
