OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Severe storms swept across the state Saturday, bringing heavy rain and causing widespread flooding on roadways throughout the Oklahoma City metro area.
Several streets were underwater, including North Kelley Avenue near West 33rd Street, where cars were seen navigating through deep water. North Pennsylvania Avenue near NW 133rd Street, just south of Memorial Road, was also heavily impacted.
Other flooded areas include:
-
Northwest Expressway and Rockwell
-
I-40/I-44 junction
-

-
Broadway between 9th & 11th
-

Authorities are urging residents to stay home and avoid flooded roads as more rounds of showers and storms are expected throughout the weekend. A flood watch remains in effect for a large portion of Oklahoma through Sunday, with several counties under active flood warnings.
While some Oklahomans made the best of the situation and had fun in the floodwaters, officials emphasize that the danger remains high and travel should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
