PUEBLO, Colo. — Southern Colorado is sweltering under a Heat Advisory today as temperatures soar into the triple digits across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, communities including Pueblo, Lamar, La Junta, Trinidad, Colorado Springs, and Walsenburg are seeing highs between 101°F and 104°F, with the advisory remaining in effect through 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The NWS urges residents to limit outdoor activity between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., when the risk of heat-related illnesses peaks. Officials advise drinking plenty of water, wearing light, breathable clothing, and seeking shade or air conditioning when possible.
Travelers and workers along U.S. Highway 50 and the I-25 corridor should take extra precautions due to the extreme heat, which can make prolonged outdoor exposure hazardous.
This is shaping up to be one of the hottest days of the summer, with temperatures rivaling the record-setting heatwave of July 2022.
